Dr. Emad M. Guirguis, BA, MD, CCFP, FRCSC

Dr. Emad Guirguis was raised in Barrie, Ontario in the 1970's, when its population was 20,000. He determined early in life that his calling was to become a surgeon and return to his hometown. The combination of his keen interest in science and his passion for caring for people confirmed his desire to pursue medicine and surgery.

Dr. Guirguis loves his calling as a general surgeon and looks forward to serving Barrie and the surrounding communities as director and surgeon of Lakeview Surgery Centre.

Dr. Guirguis began practicing general surgery in Barrie and Alliston immediately following obtaining his credentials. While his practice at the Royal Victoria Hospital and Stevenson Memorial Hospital thrived over the years, Dr. Guirguis has always felt humbled to be called into his profession.

As Barrie and the surrounding area's population grew rapidly over the ensuing years, pressure on hospital resources mounted. Dr. Guirguis, in consultation with close colleagues and professional experts in Health Facility Design, began planning the creation of Lakeview Surgery Centre in September of 2008. His vision was to design a state-of-the-art surgery centre set on the tranquil shores of Kempenfelt Bay in Barrie. The centre had its open house on May 27, 2009. Dr. Guirguis and his staff were very encouraged by a very enthusiastic response from colleagues, nurses, family and friends at the launch of Lakeview Surgery Centre.
