Mole Removal Procedures Barrie

Moles aren’t just cosmetic imperfections of your skin—The National Cancer Institute has outlined the “ABCD” criteria for assessing the risk of melanoma in a mole. Lakeview Surgery Centre has a close association with a number of Royal College certified dermatologists who refer patients to us for surgical management of suspicious moles and biopsy-proven melanomas, and we help patients who have concerns about their moles on their face and body. While we highly recommend you first see your family physician or dermatologist if you notice any suspicious signs in a mole, many patients come to us first.

You do not need to see a dermatologist first before being referred to us. Just call (705) 302-0142 to book your private consultation with Dr. Guirguis to get your concern addressed faster. You can also request a consultation via email here.

Dr. Guirguis has removed many moles that were suspicious, as well as removed many that were purely for cosmetic reasons and at the patient’s direct request. If you have a mole that you are concerned about, whether for cosmetic or health reasons, it is important that you seek treatment sooner rather than later, as moles have the potential of becoming cancerous.

Moles are pigmented spots on the skin that may be smooth or raised. They may not be dangerous, but they always pose an associated risk. Therefore, you should monitor any moles that you have on your face or body.

Signs That You Should Look Out For in a Mole

  • Asymmetry: The left side of the mole should be pretty much identical with the right half. If there is any asymmetry, it could be an indication that it is dangerous.
  • An irregular border: Look out for irregular edges that are ragged or notched.
  • Multiple or uneven colours: Have your mole checked out by your doctor if it is multiple colours or has a bluish tinge.
  • Anything larger in diameter than a pencil eraser: Iif it is bigger than a pencil eraser, you should have your doctor check it out.
  • Raised or uneven elevation: Suspicious moles are those that are raised or uneven in elevation.
