Lakeview Surgery Centre is about to launch the first approved treatment for cellulite. The Cellupulse uses acoustic sound waves to increase skin circulation and elasticity, thereby significantly reducing cellulite. The treatment is primarily applied to the thighs, where cellulite typically develops, but can also be used in most areas where cellulite is present.

To enhance success with healthy lifestyle choices, we now offer professional personal training at Lakeview Surgery Centre. Lisa, a veteran personal trainer, has recently joined our team at Lakeview. Lisa has a passion for the industry and has been in the field for 15 years. As a personal trainer, Lisa believes in a comprehensive approach to lifestyle improvements. Her education includes a three-year college diploma in Physical Fitness and Leisure Management, a Degree in Psychology and ongoing study toward her Masters Degree. Lisa also certified through CAN FIT PRO for personal training and group fitness leadership. Lisa has experience working with rehabilitation populations, post surgery patients, and beginner weight loss exercise programming. The activities she enjoys are golf, skiing, jogging, urban poling, weight training and a variety of other activities. Lisa is an enthusiastic asset to the Lakeview Surgery Centre team.

Lakeview Surgery Centre introduces the Jump6 Gastric Balloon Weight Management Program. The Balloon is inserted into the stomach through a gastroscopy with light sedation, thereby not requiring an operation. It remains in the stomach for six months, and then removed in a similar fashion. The program includes support from a physician, a dietitian, a nurse, a personal trainer, and a psychologist. The average weight loss is 40 to 60 pounds. The program is approved by Health Canada.

Lakeview Surgery Centre will be introducing the new Ultrashape Contour Version 3 in two weeks. This newest technology has an additional radiofrequency mode, which contracts skin along with reducing fat deposits. The average circumference reduction with Ultrashape Contour Version 3 ranges from 3.5 to 6.3 cm. Some studies have demonstrated an additional 2.5 cm of circumference reduction with the addition of radiofrequency.

Lakeview Surgery Centre is introducing the Body Jet Liposuction procedure, a new gentle form of body contouring. The Body Jet uses a water stream to wash away fat while simultaneously suctioning it. The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia and patients can resume normal activity within 24 hours. It results in less discomfort and bruising than traditional liposuction. We performed this procedure today with Dr. Sean Rice, one of the first plastic surgeons to adopt this technique in Canada.

Our LAP-BAND patients are continuing to progress well. The most recent five patients, who underwent surgery on April 23, have lost between 8 lbs to 19 lbs since the surgery. We aim for an average loss of 2 to 4 pounds per week. The adjustments to the band are made to maintain a satisfied sensation of fullness with three small meal portions per day.
